AUTUMN is the third painting in my four-season Marblehead Lighthouse series.  I wanted to capture the glow of an autumn sunset on Lake Erie, even though the sun actually sets in the opposite direction of the lighthouse.  I managed to capture as much as the colorful sky as possible from that vantage point.  The SPRING painting is often confused for the sunset but since the sun rises in the east, the most colorful view is actually the sunrise.  I wanted to show a sunset representing the coming of winter.  It was also important to capture the changing of the leaves, but I had to use "artists privilege" for the color hues in the trees.  

In AUTUMN, I included a tiny illustration of our boat returning home after a great day of fishing or enjoying all that Lake Erie has to offer.  

This piece is part of my four-season Marblehead Lighthouse series.  The AUTUMN painting is was one that I enjoyed painting.  The mini version is a perfect accent for a desk, mantle, or ornament with or without the easel.  Artist's original signature and year on back.
