Replica of my original oil on canvas: The Marblehead, Ohio Lighthouse ~ SPRING
This painting is my personal favorite. I wanted SPRING to feel vibrant and full of depth, so I began with the lighthouse in deep purple tones and layered the colors as the details emerged. I also hoped to capture the warm glow reflecting off the top of the lighthouse, which I recreated from several sunrise photos my sister (and others) have taken for me. Since I am not an early riser, those beautiful reference photos were a gift in themselves.
When I reached the railings at the top of the lighthouse, I realized how much my hand had changed from when I painted the earlier pieces. Getting those tiny lines clean and steady was a challenge — a noticeable difference from the first paintings in the series — but it also reminded me how meaningful it is to keep creating, even when things become more difficult.
For me, this piece symbolizes a new day. Every day truly is a gift. I am grateful to my doctors, who are undoubtedly the best, my family and friends for their unwavering support, and everyone who has offered prayers and positive energy throughout my journey. All of it allows me to embrace each new day with hope — and that sense of renewal is exactly what SPRING represents to me.
SPRING brings a gentle warmth that stands in contrast to the cooler stillness of WINTER and the deeper, moodier tones of AUTUMN.
The mini version brings that same warmth to any small space — a desk, mantle, or ornament — with or without the easel. Each piece is signed and dated on the back by the artist
